The Best Times For a Magician To Perform At Your Wedding

When booking a magician for your wedding there are obviously different times you can hire them to perform. Here I list four different times in day and the pro and cons of each.

1) During the drinks reception

This is an ideal time for a magician as this is the time in the day when the photographs are being taken and the rest ofthe guests are standing around engaging in idel chit chat. Indeed some people may not even know the other guests and it can be quite an awkward period. What better than whilst waiting for your photos you are engaged by a magician performing some amazing tricks. This not only passes some of the idle time but will also bring together some of the guests. What tends to happen is when the magician moves on to the next group the last group end up sharing a common interest (the magicians tricks) and will often continue chatting for the duration of the reception drinks.

2) The wedding breakfast

Although not the most popular choice many wedding couples like the idea of a magician entertaining at the tables during the wedding breakfast. For some reason many people still believe that a magician needs a table to perform and thus assume this is the only time they will perform. This simply is not true. A distinct disadvantage of performing at this time is that it can be a distraction for the guests who are trying to eat. Although most magicians will attempt to entertain the tables that do not have their food yet it can be hard to achieve this with every table. nevertheless it is another option and can work quite well.

3) Between the wedding breakfast and evening reception

There is usually about an hour or so of idle time once the main wedding breakfast and speeches are over and the tables are cleared away in preparation for the evening guests and DJ to start up. Most of the guests are in a state of waiting and it can work very well having a magician come in at this point. A disadvantage however is that many guests usually takethis opportunity to freshen up or even go back to the hotel and change, especially the weddinf couple themselves, which means it's possible that not all the guests will be around to experience the magic.

4) Evening reception

This can be the most fun time for the magician and guests. All the formalities are over, the best man has done his speech, and everyone is havign a drink and letting their hair down. Magic can work wonders at this part of the day and can really lift the spirit of the room.

There you go. Four times a magician can entertain your guests. If I had to put them in order of popularity it would be

  1. Drinks reception
  2. Evening reception
  3. Between wedding breakfast and evening
  4. Wedding breakfast
